The surge in Vietnamese immigrants arriving in the UK illegally has been blamed on a new visa agreement the southeast Asian country signed with Hungary that allows easier access into the EU’s Schengen zone.
Vietnamese migrants have become the largest nationality to cross the Channel this year, according to Home Office sources, although the department will not disclose the figures until next month.
