Following the Russian Revolution of 1917, Latvia declared its independence in November of 1918. Just22 years later, as World War II was beginning inEurope, Latvia was annexed to the Soviet Union – which retained control until 1991.

This 2 Lati was struck just two years from1925-1926. The obverse shows the Latvian coat of arms with the words LATVIJAS above and REPUBLIKA below. The reverse displays the value and date within a wreath. Now more than 95 years old, this coin is a classic addition to your collection.
