American tech giant Uber is coming to Luxembourg with its meal delivery service, Uber Eats.

While a few months ago the American firm is to set up operations in the grand duchy. For the time being, however, it will be bringing only its meal delivery business to the country, leaving aside its core ride hailing service.

Delivery drivers can already start registering for future deliveries in Luxembourg and choose their mode of transport: bike, motorbike or car. They must then provide a series of documents such as an identity document, driving licence or insurance certificate for the vehicle used. The app asks its delivery drivers to carry an insulated delivery bag and even sends a link to buy one on an official for around €40.

Competition is set to become fierce in Luxembourg, where many other delivery companies are already present: Wolt, Deliveroo, Just Eat, Gorillas and Takeaway.com.

At the time of publication, Uber had not replied to a request for comment.
